Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello says Let the youths of Nigeria decide who they want, there was no provision for rotational presidency in the Constitution of  APC – GBAMSBLOG

THE Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has said Nigerian youths will decide his fate in the next presidential race after the tenure of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in 2023.

Governor  Bello equally said there was no provision for rotational presidency in the Constitution of the All Progressives Congress.

The governor was responding to the agitation of some of his colleagues for the presidency to be zoned to the south in 2023.

This is coming barely 72 hours after the Northern Elders Forum said the region would retain power beyond 2023.

It based its optimism on its perceived higher voting population.

The Kogi State governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Youth and Student Affairs, Ahmed Jubril, said this at the inauguration of a movement christened:  ‘Yahaya Bello Network Group’ in Kaduna on Wednesday.

He said, “Governor Yahaya Bello is doing the right thing because in other countries we have seen where the youths have taken over. It is only a plus for us as youths to be calling on Governor Bello to come and be the number one person in Nigeria.”

On the return of the presidency to the south as being advocated by the southern governors, Bello was quoted as saying “everybody has the right to call for what they want and it is their opinion.

“But we know that as a party, in the APC, we don’t have any fixed law saying anybody is entitled to power in any area for a period of time. Let the youths of Nigeria decide who they want.”
