It looks as if everything in our dear country is crumbling. While we are still talking about insecurity, Senator Dino Melaye released another bombshell on his Twitter handle. He stressed a more alarming danger that we should be worried about. He started with the fact that our government is not honest and does not tell us the truth. NNPC not having money at this time of economic crisis would demoralize a lot of Nigerians.
The Senator said he stumbled across a letter written by the NNPC and specifically signed by the Chief Financial Officer of the NNPC, the person of Umar Ajiya Isa. According to him, the letter was addressed to the Accountant General of the Federation. The letter was meant to inform the Accountant General that the NNPC would not be contributing to the National purse in May, June, and July.
In another word, they would be zero allocations from the NNPC for the months listed above. As such, the revenue for the months listed above would come from the Nigerian Custom and the Federal Inland Revenue Service(FIRS).
The Senator expressed worry as the majority of our revenues normally come from the NNPC. He said the NNPC would not be able to contribute to the revenues that would be shared among the three tiers of government.
