It’s all over the media that the election umpire in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the date for the 2023 general elections in the country. INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu made the announcement last Wednesday during a one-day public hearing on the National Electoral Offences Commission (Establishment) Bill 2021, organized by the Senate Committee on INEC.

According to the INEC boss, the 2023 general elections are exactly one year, nine months, two weeks and six days or 660 days from today. “By the principle established by the Commission, the 2023 General Election will hold on Saturday 18th February 2023 which is exactly one year, nine months, two weeks and six days or 660 days from today,” he said.

As the commission hopes to release the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the General Election immediately after the Anambra Governorship election scheduled to hold on 6th November 2021, a youth group, known as the Coalition of Young Comrades in Politics has called on Hon. Yahaya Audu popularly called Okumoh to rise up and participate fully in the 2023 general elections and possibly, in the subsequent Governorship election in his home Kogi State.

According to the National President of the coalition, Comrade Charles Osagie, who spoke in Abuja on Thursday morning, said, “Hon. Yahaya Audu is a successful businessman, a philanthropist par excellence, a kindhearted and seasoned politician of about fifteen years,  and since his political outing in 2011 and 2015 for the Okene 1 Constituency sit in the Kogi State House of Assembly, which actually lunched him fully into Kogi State politics, he has since been loved by his people at home and in the diaspora.”

“Before you see a Kogite and even non-Kogite that will speak ill of Hon. Yahaya, you would have come across ten who would tell you a hundred and one good and true attributes of him.” Comrade Osagie added.

He furthered, “leaders shape our nations, communities, and organizations. We need good leaders to help guide us and make the essential large-scale decisions that keep the world moving. And based on our research, we’ve found that great leaders consistently possess essential leadership skills like Integrity, Ability to delegate, Communication, Self-awareness, Gratitude, Influence, Empathy, Courage, Respect, Godliness and as a group, we can confidently say that Okumoh possesses all of these qualities and more with excellent scores.”

So we call on Hon. Yahaya Audu to rise up as a leader and take responsibility to deliver the quality leadership he wants to see given to Kogites and Nigerians at large. Okumoh hails from Kogi State and is deeply rooted in the eastern part of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory.

“We look forward to the day when he will declare his intention to take the lead to end bad leadership for his people.” the coalition’s President had said.
