The Honourable commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris,FCA, expressed sudden shock and sadness over the tragic incident of tanker explosion that happened in Felele axis of Lokoja.
The incident, which occurred along Lokoja/Abuja expressway, claimed the lives of about 23 persons, according to the sector commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kogi State, left families of victims devastated, few injured, and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.
Asiwaju in his mournful state, issued a statement of commiseration through his media aide, Ayowande Opomulero, today in Lokoja, expressed sadness and shock at the incident. He said the horrible incidence is an eye sore that should pierce the heart of anyone with emotions and empathy.
According to him,My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased in this tragic and grievious moment.
With heavy heart, he sympathizes with the victims family members and the fortunate survivors. He prayed for the reposed souls of those that lost their precious lives to the incident.
Mukadam also urged the FG through the Ministry of Works and housing to come to the rescue by repairing the deplorable state of the road. He expressed gratitude to all security agencies and other relevant agencies that participated in the search and rescue exercise during the incident.
