PRESS RELEASE
The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State faults the playing of partisan politics with it’s identity as the constitution of the council does not permits the apex youth organization in getting involved in partisan political activities.
In as much as the council acknowledges the right of it’s members to brightly participate in active politics even beyond just casting of votes for preferred candidates, we do not welcome NYCN Executives, Leaders, and Management Members tagging the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State to any personal political interest or affiliation.
By this statement, the headship of the NYCN in Edo State makes clear the following submissions:
1. Reemphasize that the NYCN remains apolitical even as the Edo State election draws near.
2. Distance itself from the personal political alignment of the Edo South Vice Chairman, Comrade Ogiehor Ehis Tornado with a political party, tagging the identity of the NYCN. Describing such development as erroneous.
3a. Call to order one Mr. Mathew Johnson who parades himself as the Personal Assistant to the Vice President South South, NYCN Headquarters, restraining him from making statements on behalf of the NYCN Edo State for he is not an Executive Member of the council and have no constitutional powers to act in such capacity.
3b. Categorically make clear that the said Johnson Matthew is also guilty of tagging the NYCN to his personal political interest in recent times and he should desist from such acts too henceforth.
4. The NYCN Edo State under the leadership of Comrade Osahon Obasuyi is committed to upholding the core values of the council even as the Edo State Governorship election draws near.
The NYCN also uses this opportunity to urge the youths of Edo state not to make themselves tools to perpetrate evil by desperate politicians who can be described as power grabbers.
In coming days we shall embark on another phase of sensitization against all forms of social vices in Edo state as it relates to the forthcoming gubernatorial elections and beyond.
