Idris Musa stated this at the Celebration of 2020 International Youth Day Celebration and  Kogi State Youth  Summit with the Theme “Youth Engagement For Global Action organised by the state Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in partnership with Action Aid Nigeria and Participation Initiative For Behavioural Change in Development (PIBCID).
The commissioner said Youth are the leaders of today, saying this years topic is unique in sensitizing the youth against Violent Extremism in Kogi State,he further adviced the youth to shun violence and focus more on the development of the state and the country at large.
Earlier,the Country Director, Action Aid Nigeria,Ene Obi who was represented by the Director of Finance Action Aid Nigeria,Mr Oluwole Elegbede said in his keynote address that the World is getting younger and that according to the United Nations estimate of the World’s population in 2019, globally,1in 6 people are between the ages of 15 and 24 years, which shows that the World had 1.2 billion youth in 2019,he further said that the figure is expected to rise by 7% by the end of 2020.
Mr Oluwole also said that this year  Youth Summit is in commemoration of the International Youth Day which present an opportunity to celebrate and mainstream young people’s vioces,action and initiatives,as well as their meaningful engagement in contributing to the development, while also educating them on their roles in peace building.
In his welcome address,the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry,Mr Sylvanus Akpama adviced all the participants to listen carefully to the presentations saying that at the end of the Summit,Kogi State Youth will develop a change of attitude towards Violent Extremism.
Present at the Summit are the Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism,Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and the representative of the state Head of Civil  Service.
