In a responsive drive to ensure that Kogi State comes out of the current quagmire amidst the COVID 19 pandemic,
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, represented by his Deputy, Cheif Edward Onoja, today inaugurated the Kogi Team for the World Bank assisted programme which is aimed at to design and prepare the State CARES Program- with emphasis on the mode of coordination and delivery system. Also, to factor out the key activities and expenditure/budget Program relating to the kogi needs for results. In his inurgural speech, the Deputy Governor noted that the Nigeria CARES program of the WorldBank must be optimised by Kogi State and charged the team to deliver their responsibility with all commitment for the benefits of the states. He however congratulated the members whom he said were selected based on competency, experience and character and as well urge them to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Earlier, at the Banquate Hall of the Government House, venue of the ceremony, the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr Folashade Ayoade Arike, stated the aims of the programme to includes- to protect livelihood and food security of poor and vulnerable families in kogi state and as facilitates recovery of local economic activity through SME. The SSG also read out the names of the nine members of the Committee as recommended by the World Bank to includes:
Hon Asiwaju Asiru Idris – State Commissioner of Finance, Budget & Economic Planning as the State Team Leader.
Hon. Oneal Ejigbo Daniel – Commissioner for Rural Development Member
Yakubu Mohammed – Secretary MSME Member
Mr Paul Ogunmola – FADAMA Coordinator Member
Adamu Shaidu Obansa – RAMP Coordinator Member
Dr. Noah Alilu – YESSO Coordinator Member
Abdulrasaq Falilat – Head Cash Transfer Member
Prince Onyekehi Abdulkareem – Head SIP Member Momoh Dauda – GM CSDP Member
In his response after the inauguration, the Kogi State CARES Team Leader , Honourable Asiwaju Asiru Idris assures His Excellency of the readiness of the Committee to deliver according to mandate. He further emphasised that, kogi has been at the forefront in World Bank programme in Nigeria and that everything will be done by the Committee to justify the confidence reposed in them.
