The quest to bring the fiscal outlook and Financial document of the state to global standard practice, where transparency,accountability and sustainability is upheld, is very much on course.
Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris,FCA, is chairing the meeting of SFTAS ( state fiscal transparency,accountability and sustainability programme) APA 2019 preparatory workshop ongoing at the SIFMIS centre in lokoja. Others at the workshop includes the state Auditor General; Alhaji Okala, Perm sec Ministry of Finance,Budget and Economic Planning, representative of the Accountant General office, DG BPP; Dr Stella Adejoh, Director Debt management office, Directors in the ministry of Finance ,Head of Service, Auditor General office.
Recall that kogi state came second nationwide on the SFTAS result and got a grant of $8.8miilion just behind Kaduna state that came first with $11 million for the 2018 fiscal year from the world bank SFTAS programme for resuults premised on the high point scored from strict adherence to the criteria, ranging from early passage of budget and uploading state financial statements and budget online with a proof of citizen participation/input in preparing state budget.
States were paid according to their performance on the disbursement linked indicators set up by the world bank. About 12 states missed out of the grant in the 2018 fiscal year because they could not meet up with the criteria which is basically open governance and transparency.
His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello led administration, committed to good and open governace, assembled an excellently proactive and efficient team in preparation towards meeting the requirements for the year 2019 fiscal year. The workshop is underway as led by the state Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and his team.
