NYCN Edo State Spokesperson Recounts Inspiring Moment With  Mentor On His Birthday

Dear Rev. Osama Iyawe PhD,
Few days ago a respected Comrade from the UNIBEN community asked me, “are you still in touch with your boss, Dr. Iyawe?” After giving him a positive response I took some time to think about you and here is a section of my thoughts on how you invested in me.
Some years ago while battling with my academics in my final year in the department of Banking and Finance, University of Benin. Somehow, it came to your knowledge that I haven’t paid my school fees and so won’t be allowed into the examination hall, as my colleagues were already writing.
You quietly called me into your office in the department and queried me for not carrying you along on my predicament. After explaining myself, you compassionately mediated for me to be allowed to write that exam and requested I see you immediately after the paper, which I did.
Back in your office, you asked me when I could pay you back a loan to settle my school fees and I gave a date. Immediately, you handed over the cash to me and I headed straight to the bank for payment.
I shamefully dodged you for one week after the date for refund elapsed because I haven’t raised the money to pay you back. The following week I miraculously got money, I came to your office with the cash to refund it. You looked at me and said I have just passed a major test. You asked me to keep the money that the help wasn’t a loan but a test and grant to support me through the tough times.
That was how I became very close to you and eventually your Personal Assistant and partner in progress, having access to even your bathroom. You entrusted me with so much vital responsibilities of your wedding and I hope you didn’t regret it. I graduated from Banking and Finance department having 2 favorite lecturers, you happen to be one.
Though in the following years, the NYSC clarion call and search for greener pastures has denied me the enjoyable moments of the one on on mentorship at your feet. But the impacting memories of the counseling and inspiration you gave to me since 2013 still keeps me going as the Mr Impact you have always wanted me to be.
Today is your birthday sir and I wish to let you know that you’ve added so much value to my life and I don’t take them for granted. My success story is incomplete without you. Thank you and God bless you.
Happy Birthday DROI
Many Happy Returns.
Cheers!
Charles Osagie (Mr Impact)
