KOGI STATE COVID-19 UPDATE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE HON. COMMISSIONER

● All worship centers are expected to mandatorily have hand washing facilities installed for their worshipers which they must use everytime they visit these centers.
● Places of worship should also be frequently disinfected, and there should be adequate spacing between worshipers at all times.
● The people are encouraged to go about their business observing a high sense of precaution against the virus as rolled out already
● The State Government will enforce the installation of hand washing facilities in public places such as shopping complex, business centers, offices, etc.
● We have designated areas where commuters from outside the State are allowed to stop, and testing will be carried out. They are no longer permitted to stop wherever they wish.
● As mentioned earlier, we are collaborating with Katsina State Government to assist with Contact tracing of their deceased index case.
● The pandemonium about a suspected case in Ankpa Local Government turned out to be false. We understand the fear of the people  and we welcome such level of alertness and prompt reporting of suspected cases and it goes to show that our sensitization efforts has yielded the desired result. We implore the public to continue to inform the Ministry of any suspected case as the Ministry is ever ready to safeguard the Health of all Kogites.
● Also, we report the case of a 41 year old man who left Kogi to Ekiti State on 27/03/2020 and fell ill with symptoms suspicious of Covid-19 (on set of symptoms was 01/04/2020). With great relief he tested negative eventually. All hands are on deck to ensure we work together to safeguard our State.
● Non of the persons of interest so far fits into the criterion for testing in Kogi State.
● Of the 10 States (including FCT) sharing Borders with our dear State, 9 are now hosting the much dreaded virus SARS-Cov2!
● We can beat the virus if we remain committed to taking necessary precautions and taking no chances.
●We will continue  to work round the clock to ensure we shield Kogi State from the spread of Covid-19.
