COVID-19 PANDEMIC: MASSIVE LOCKDOWN PALLIATIVES FROM DISTINGUISHED SENATOR SMART ADEYEMI

In complimenting the effort of the Federal and Kogi State Governments in managing the hardship associated with lockdowm occasioned by the COVID-19 Pandemic, Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi yesterday 18th April, 2020 distributed two trailer loads of rice worth over N20 million to be among residents of his Constituency.
The Senator, while donating the trucks of rice, commended the efforts of the Federal government for ameliorating the effect of the lockdown on the poorest of the poor in the society through the Conditional Cash Transfer and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for their impressive effort at ensuring that the spread of the virus is contained, and for providing adequate treatment to the infected persons. He further commended the Kogi State government under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for his proactive steps in ensuring that the virus does not spread to the state and by also setting up the COVID-19 Committee that is working round the clock to cushion the effect of the lockdown on the residents of the state.
He appreciated the COVID-19 COMMITTEE of Kogi State for sending a strong team comprising of the Honourable Commissioners for Information and Communication, Environment and Natural Resources, Education, Women Affairs, as well as SA Security to the Governor, to witness the distribution.
He further commended the SSA Security of the seven Local Government Councils, the traditional and religious leaders for their notable complimentary roles in supporting the State Government on the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He commended the effort of the Palliative Distribution Committee on their performance in spite of attempted sabotage and unexpected bottlenecks, he then directed that the rice be distributed throughout the polling units in all the Wards across the Western Senatorial District. He further instructed that the distribution should be done without any form of sentiment and should reach all households irrespective of tribe, religion and party affiliations. Aside from the Unit arrangement, he made separate provision for the Ebira, Igala, Hausa/Fulani and the Ibo communities across the LGAs of Kogi West as well as for the traditional institution.
He further appreciates the residents of Kogi West for their understanding and emplore them to continue to cooperate fully with the government by complying with all directives on COVID-19 for the safety of all.
Hundreds of Customised face masks were also distributed by the Senator at the programme.
