CURBING COVID-19…EDO YOUTH WING FUMIGATE YOUTH HOUSE AND DONATE ITEMS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION TO NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA
The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Edo State Branch on Friday 10th April, 2020 carried out fumigation at the Youth House. The team was led by the Branch Secretary Mr. Wilson Ekhomogiazin and also donated items for Environmental Sanitation to the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter.
The Youth Coordinator, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Edo State Agho Lucky Uhunoma while presenting the items explained that, recognizing the fact that the Youth House is home to all Edo Youth, the need to fumigate it during this pandemic becomes necessary. He said, their actions today is to compliment the Branch commitment to halt the spread of COVID-19 through publicity awareness, House to House Health Education and the provision and installation of Hand Washing sets to some organisations.
Agho Lucky Uhunoma said, the Nigerian Red Cross Society response strategy focuses on the following priorities areas:
Risk Communication / Sensitization and Community Engagement, Hygiene Promotion, Psychosocial Support, Contact Tracing and Active Case Surveillance, Mass Care, Ambulance Services / Transportation and Funeral /Burials, Support for IDPs, Old People, Persons with Disabilities, Orphans and Vulnerable Children.
The Youth thereafter took out time to fumigate all the offices, shops and the entire complex.
Responding, the Chairman NYCN, Edo State Chapter Osahon Davidson Obasuyi expressed satisfaction and appreciation to the Red Cross for the fumigation and donation and calls for more collaboration.
Those who were present includes, the Zonal Youth Coordinator Eguagie Orobosa, the former Youth Coordinator, Felix Okoukoni, the Disaster Management Coordinator, Christian Justice Ndukwu , the Project Coordinator, Kenny Isokpan, the Welfare Office, Emmanuel Otuya amongst others.
