COVID-19; Social Services,Social Responsibility As A Way Of Life Of Rt Honourable Hassan Abdullahi Baiwa Of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency.
The humanitatian ideas and ideals of Rt Honourable Hassan Abdullahi Baiwa was legendary and not meant for emergencies in all ramifications of life and passion for people’s welfare.
Before now,if not for the exigency and demands of office,the member representing Dekina/Bassa in the green chamber does not believe in blowing his own trumpet, or rather beating his drum and at the same time dancing to the tones.
Easy going,low profile,passion for selfless service and growth of his immediate and extended communities,but yet soaked innately towards human development and emancipation.
He was never an emergency but an emerging leader,who choose to declare state of emergency in all facets of human lives,always in a hurry to impact on humanity in all ramifications.
His eagerness to serve,achieve results and turn around positively the lives of all and sundry has been his cardinal objective of constantly seeking for public office, span for over one decade that later materialise some few years ago.
Even while in the public service,the people’s desire and attention for a healthy living was always close to his mind in all his endeavours.
Rt Honourable Hassan Abdullahi has being a shining example for setting the pace of service to the people through his well thought out template on human sustainability by embracing wealth creation, employment generation,skill development, empowerment and charity to ameliorate and mitigate the hithero neglected and vulnerable people in the society.
It was not only a template or policy,he matched his words with actions,by organsing one of the most recognised program of activities while at the state House of Assembly,and even extended the same gesture to his Alma mata,were he renovated a school building and his class room in the 80’s.What an idea of giving back to the society what is required of a public or political office holders.
Nine months away,not minding pre and post-election litigations,the Federal Lawamker hurriedly commence the provision of social amenities through the citing of boreholes,electricity and transformers to boost same, as well as renovation of schools and health clinics to address primary and secondary health care.
This is happening when some of his colleagues were still soaked in the euphoria of winning elections and court cases,he was not overwhelmed,went ahead to articulate his activities beginning with charitable programs by donating foods and cash every now and then during festivities,and providing not less than reasonable figure of employment,and quest to do more .
This was different from engagements and employment both at the Constituency office,enlarged office at NASS and other domestic staffers to ensure self employment and sustenace.
To put off the streets the myriads of unemployed youths that had grown to a monster in his Constituency,Baiwa is rolling out a robust and enlarged skill development,trainings , empowerment,wealth creation program to ameliorate all forms of idleness and inorderliness in the society.
Before the health emergency of COVID-19,a well thought out free rural health programs that will address primary, secondary and tertiary health issues as well as break out of epidemic of this magnitude was already in place,in addition to educational programs to guarantee the future of our children through education.
Baiwa was one of the earliest political office holders that started advocacy on the need to take precautionary and preventive measure against the Corona virus pandemic, spreading like wild fire to many underdeveloped,developing countries like Nigeria and had made several contacts and collaboration aside his personal efforts with Non Govermental Organsitions(NGOs),public spirited individuals,Corporate Organsitions, Multinationals, Ministries, Departments and Agencies to render selfless and social services to address the pandemic in Nigeria/Communities in Kogi .
Rt Honourable Abdullahi Baiwa in his bid to address the pandemic donated his two months salaries translate to billions of Naira from the 360 Lawmakers in the Federal House of Representatives,this alone will attract billions of Naira and dollars from both indigenous and foreign donors and agencies and will in turn translate to a better life to the people of Dekina/Bassa by extension Kogi state and Nigeria in general .
We are all aware of the demands of the current health emergency as regards the COVID-19 pandemic,but should also not feign the noble idea of declaring emergencies in employment,well being, charity,education,empowerment,skill and capacity developement, wealth creation and other demanding social services as adopted by Rt Honourable Hassan Abdullahi Baiwa for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in Kogi state.
