Okun yorubas set to join south west region

Following the agitation for the restructuring of Nigeria, the okun development association (ODA) umbrella sociocultural group of the yorubas in kogi state has set up a committee to chart a new course for the okun nation.

The committee which is headed by chief Emmanuel otitogu, is to work for achieving the age long agitation of the okun nation to be carved out of north central geopolitical zone and be reunited with their kith and kins in the south west geopolitical zone.

The group has resolved that okun people would support any form of restructuring of policy that would see the okun nation ceded back to the western region.

It further resolved that there is urgent need to evolve a throw back mechanism into the workings of the okun people where by genuine people’s needs, liberty, self determination through national and global development, hardwork, transparency and accountability which the okun nation is known for are brought back and better refined.

There should concerted efforts of social marginalisation, abject poverty, mutual distrust, tension, segregation which impede the Economic and political growth of okun land.
